Byron Bay - Former Butter Factory

Nearly 5 years in the making, the former Norco Butter Factory site, a tired and dilapidated historic landmark, has been rejuvenated into 10 bright and airy warehouse apartments spread over 3 levels.
By inserting the entry & living areas on the first floor the layout provides for easy access to all levels separating public from private living areas.  The elevated living also allows access to the common spaces and landscaped areas.
There is a new building, housing 4 more apartments and ground floor retail.  This timber clad 3 level building provides the gateway into the site.  The souring roof forms are reminiscent of the industrial sawtooth roofs of the time whilst the timber screen is a historical reference to the former site generator station once located at the front of the site.
