St Bernadette's
St. Bernadette’s, like many aged care facilities, was showing its age and the impact of a changing regulatory environment. Funding for 15 new dementia beds and the desire to upgrade to a class 9C building provided the opportunity to review the facility and breathe new life into it. The refurbishment presented the opportunity to address some fundamental operational issues including the unification of the high and low care sections of the facility into a cohesive whole. The project also presented challenges- the staged refurbishment of the main entry, dining/lounge area, kitchen, and most existing rooms. The screening and progressive revelation of the warmly inviting interior living spaces allude to St Bernadette’s visions of “things unseen by others”. The result means Happier staff and happier residents.
