After a 3 year journey with Jewish Care the new Gary Smorgon House in Freeman St Caulfield was officially opened on 7th July 2009.
From V Arc's perspective it was an honour and a privilege to be part of this project. It is a great example of what a team can deliver when a clear vision is set out in the beginning which is committed to throughout the journey.
Gary Smorgon House is a home for ageing members of the Jewish Community. The key word being Home.
V Arc and Jewish Care set out to create a home for residents that would allow them to enjoy lifestyle choices coupled with the highest quality care. As we know often the best form of therapy is being surrounded by those that love you, so we wanted to create an environment that not only provided great amenity and service but was also welcoming and inviting to family including the grand kids. We believe we have achieved this.
The result is a 120 bed facility that feels more like a hotel then an Aged Care Facility. The entry is warm and welcoming. The Café is adjacent the entry foyer and offers opportunities to sit with family either indoors or outdoors. Opposite the Café is the Beauty Salon that feels like a Salon. Gone are the hairdressers basins in the corner of an assisted bathroom. Also provided is a Theatre Room that can be used by family's, an Internet Café and Lounge and Dining area most hotels would be proud of. The theme is followed through resident rooms and corridors. The list goes on.
The proof is in the pudding. The overwhelming feedback from Residents, Family and Staff has been extremely positive.
